CVA Guns Optima Pro & Magnum Muzzleloaders

The CVA Optima Pro and Optima Magnum muzzleloaders are essentially the same gun with only a couple of minor differences. The Optima Pro sports a 29 inch fluted barrel topped with steel fiber optic sights. The Optima magnum carries a 26 inch unfluted barrel with plastic fiber optic sights. The 29 inch barrel of th Optima pro yields an extra 100 or more feet per second over the same load in the Optima Magnum due to the extra three inches of powder burn time. If this translates into an advantage when hunting is debatable, both guns are capable of handling magnum loads and taking game such as deer at 200 plus yards. Most hunters will top either gun with a rifle scope so the plastic sights on the Optima magnum should not be a disadvantage.

Like the CVA Optima Elite the Optima muzzleloaders are availible in .45 and .50 caliber with either blued or nickle finish barrels. Unlike the Optima Elite they do not except any centerfire rifle barrels and can not be adapted to fit those barrels. CVA, however, does offer muzzleloading barrels which can be exchanged if the hunter wants to use a different caliber or finish.
