CVA Powerbelt Bullets

Powerbelt Bullets

Powerbelt bullets are no longer availible under the CVA name, Blackpowder Products Inc,, the owner of both CVA guns and Powerbelt bullets has elected to produce Powerbelts under their own name. Even though the package no longer says CVA Powerbelt todays Powerbelts are still the same as those produced under the CVA label with the exception of several additional new bullets.

BPI calls Powerbelts "the bullet that made sabots obsolete." If you are using sabots and then try a Powerbelt you will immediatly see why they make this claim. Sabots are often hard to load, especially in a fouled barrel. Powerbelts slide down easily. The powerbelt bullets load easy because they are the same diameter as the bore. Each powerbelt has a "hollow" plastic base that is also the same diameter as the bore. When the powder is ignited the pressure expands the base until it grips the rifleing which then imparts spin to stabilize the bullet. A traditional sabot load depends on the sabot compessing against the rifleing when loaded so that the rifling can impart spin during the shot. The rifleing is actually scarring the sabot when the bullet is loaded. This often takes quite a bit of effort to seat the saboted bullet.
